Start with your small tasks

Nearly every “productivity system” I’ve seen recommend starting your day by working on your biggest, most important tasks first.

But if you have ADHD, getting started is often the hardest part. Once you get moving, hyperfocus can kick-in (hopefully) and things really start moving.

Most productivity advice is written by and for neurotypicals. That’s not you.

If your ADHD flow state isn’t already hyperfocused on the stuff you need to get done, start with smaller tasks first. Get your mind moving in that direction.

If you have small tasks related to the big ones, all the better.

You’re trying to overcome your mental inertia. It’s much easier to get some smaller rocks rolling than one big one. You’ll create a big rock slide either way.
